The Bear and the Elephant

The Bear and the Elephant went to the moon
In a strawberry coloured spaceship
They took some cats and a few different flats
Wrapped up in a pack of clips
The Bear looked down to the planets below
And sang to a diddy guitar
“O lovely Nelly, o Nelly my love,
What a beautiful Nelly you are,
You are, you are,
What a beautiful Nelly you are”

Nelly said to the Bear “I don’t really care
How you dance like a circus clown
O let us be married too long we have tarried
But what shall we do for a crown?”
They sailed away for an eon and a day
To a land where piggies grow
And there in a wood a piggywig stood
With a crown on top of his crow,
His crow, his crow
A crown on top of his crow

“Dear piggy are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your crown” Said the piggy “I will”
So they took it away and was married next day
By the dodo who lives on the hill
They dined on cheese and slices of peas
Which they ate with a titainium spoon
And hand in hand on the edge of the sand
They danced by the light of the sun,
The sun, the sun
They danced by the light of the sun.

  1. Well done Charlotte! This is a brilliant poem despite you having to remember it as it wasn’t in your book to copy! Keep up the good work!
